One Day Trips from Phoenix
May 3rd, 2008 categories: Phoenix real estate
One of the places Phoenicians get away when it gets warmer is the North of Arizona. Amongst the most popular destinations is Sedona.I remember Sedona as a very small town with narrow streets and almost no place to eat, have coffee or shop. This was good. Sedona was not a place to go shopping. It is a beautiful terrain with a variety of climates in one; Sedona ranges from an open desert where summer hurts just as much as it does in Phoenix to narrow canyons covered with trees, where the red rocks seem to keep the cool of winter and distribute it in the summer and keep the flora, fauna and hikers cool.

Sedona is about an hour and a half from Phoenix. Just go north on I-17 (the fastest way) or through Prescott and Jerome (a slower way through the mountains).
Sedona is situated at the mouth of spectacular and beautiful Oak Creek Canyon. This canyon is characterized by huge red-rock formations weathered through millions of years, and contrasted by riparian areas of Oak Creek Canyon. In the summer a great place to cool off is along the river. There are many places to stop, have a picnic and sink you feet into the cool water. You can also take the long hikes into the canyons. One of the more popular hikes along the river is West Fork. You can actually hike this trail all the way to Flagstaff, but you don’t need to go that far to enjoy some beautiful scenery and amazing rock formations forged by the river.
